Her Story: Born to a Russian-Native father and Native Alaskan mother she was born in Nulato but grew up in various mining camps around Northern Alaska. In 1893 her husband Sergei discovered gold in Birch Creek and a settlement called Circle City was homebase for the operation. In Circle City, Sergei and Erinia separated and she married miner Dan Callahan. Eventually she moved to Fairbanks where she became a businesswoman and role model for Native women.
