Notable Facts: This is the world's deepest mine at over 2.5 miles below the earth's surface. To get to the bottom of the mine, the ride takes over an hour. In 2008, researchers found a previously undiscovered bacterium called Desulforudis audaxviator a few kilometers deep in the mine.
