Mine Type: Gold and Copper Open-Pit, some silver
Started Operations: 1990 - present day
Owner: Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Inc. majority shareholder
Output: In 2016 it produced 1 billion pounds of copper and 1 million ounces of gold
Notable Facts: It is located in a mountain range about 14,000 feet above sea level. It is the largest gold mine and second largest copper mine in the world.
